The Georgetown Masterplan is an initiative by the local community, Council and the SA Government to develop a new vision for Georgetown. This vision responds directly to the social, environmental, cultural and economic needs to the Town. In order to deliver this vision, we want to generate ideas, comments and discussion about the Town......... This blog has been setup by WAX Design, URPS and Peter Bell to encourage the community to let us know what you think about your Town.
See my comment in the question about strengthening the historical aspects of Georgetown for some relevant ideas to this question also.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think additional and more impressive entrance signs could help to get people to stop. I recall a series of signs along the road heading towards Victor Harbour I thought were clever & effective. It said "2000 hippies 2km ahead". Another 500mts was another sign "2000 hippies 1.5km".....you get the idea. Then it said "...hippeastrum farm, turn left 200m". By building the anticipation for people of what might be at Georgetown, curiosity might just get them to stop and take a look.
Of course we should give them something special, unique & impressive to stop for.....exactly what, I'm not sure. A 'big' something? Some wild artwork? A weird claim to fame?
I agree, I am all for an entrance statement!! And love the large illuminated wheat that we saw last night!
ReplyDeleteWhat you have planned for Georgetown is laughable tot he point it isn't funny any more.
ReplyDeleteAnd just who do you think is going to pay for all these FARMERS ideas hey???.
Yeah i bet it wont be you all sitting pretty on the outskirts of the town with your drought assistance and all.
get over yourselves and find a project that won't cost the TOWNS RATE PAYERS A CENT
Constructive critisicm is what is asked, not obvious issues you seem to have with peoples occupations.
ReplyDeleteThe ideas were formed from working with the COMMUNITY which consists of people from all areas of the town. Maybe you should have provided feedback and got in and given a point of view from whatever perspective you have.
This project is not costing the TOWNS RATE PAYERS a cent. Maybe get your facts before you start slinging mud. Be constructive!
Rates 2008 $175 rates 2009 $387, now tell me im not paying for it.
ReplyDeleteConstructive opinion was added at the GTF committe but Feel on deaf ears
